Urging the striking Non Teaching Contract Employees  to  wait for the report of the Government Committee  on rationalization of non teaching workforce in the State Universities, Prof. S. Ramachandram, Vice Chancellor called upon them to resume duties immediately as absenteeism is hampering work in the University.

The Vice Chancellor, said that the University was always pro-employee and has always protected their interests. It was unfortunate that the employees have gone on strike for the past 10 days. He said that the non-teaching staff of Osmania University have better service conditions and remuneration than their counterparts in other Universities in the State. He revealed that after he took over as Vice Chancellor, responding to their representation, he had enhanced the remuneration, as one time measure, by 20 percent in addition to the 15 per cent annual increment in vogue.

Prof. C.Manoharachary, Department of Botany, Osmania University has been conferred Lifetime Achievement Award for 2017 by The Mycological Society of India in its Annual meeting held at Jammu University. 
His Excellency, Sri NN Vohra, The Governor of Jammu & Kashmir has conferred this Award on 16th November, 2017.
Prof Chary has guided 50 students for Ph.D., has 540 Research papers,  edited 30 Books, earlier he has received 5 National Awards and 6 State Government Awards.


The Indian Science Congress Association has instituted an Award namely ‘Infosys Foundation – ISCA Travel Award’ from 2004-2005 which is given annually to five students (upto Class XII) during the Annual Session of the Indian Science Congress Association. The awardee will be paid TA (AC III – tier/Chair Car Train Fare), local hospitality, and a Plaque for attending the Indian Science Congress session every year.


Furthermore, five more deserving students will be funded from the amount accrued form interest of selling of the special volume entitled “The Shaping of Indian Science” published by ISCA on the occasion of the 90th Indian Science Congress.


This year also Infosys Foundation – ISCA Travel Award will be given to school children on the occasion of the 105th Indian Science Congress to be held in the Osmania University, Hyderabad during January 2018.


Interested students (upto Class XII) may be request to submit an application with the above write up and brief biodate (named, address, school, date of birth, class, phone/e-mail, extracurricular activities etc.). The application should be forwarded by the School Principal/Headmaster and must reach the office of the Local Secretary. The last date of receiving application of this award is November 15, 2017.
